England and Wales

the-guide-to-successful-photography-blogging

Welcome to England! Pictured are some ships from the 17th or 18th century, probably similar to the ones my ancestors used to travel to the British colonies in what would soon become America.

Although my ethnicity report came back as 36% England and Wales, I have not been able to trace any ancestors back to that area yet due to gaps in record keeping and such. Many of my ancestors immigrated from other parts of Europe in the 19th century, but I have not found anyone from England yet. However, on James Meader Taylor's line (my second-great-grandfather on my paternal grandmother's side), some of ancestors go back to Pennsylvania in the colonial days, and one of them even fought in the American Revolution. I have a hunch their line goes back even further to Massachusetts in the 1600s, but I am still looking for more documentation to support this hypothesis. This line of ancestors is the earliest line of immigrants to the United States I have found so far, and I believe they may be the source of my English heritage. There will certainly be more updates here as I find more records of this line. For now, I think I'll just enjoy my cup of tea, mate.
